Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan organized a send-off ceremony for 257 students awarded the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships to study in Hungary, marking a significant moment in Pakistan-Hungary educational cooperation.
According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan announcement issued on 23 August 2024, the scholarships, covering various academic levels and disciplines, underscore the growing educational ties between the two nations. The event, graced by HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Hungary in Islamabad, Dr. Dora Gunsberger, highlighted the program’s success and its role in fostering personal and professional growth among Pakistani students abroad.
Dr. Gunsberger noted the exceptional number of applications from Pakistan, the highest worldwide, and emphasized the transformative experience of studying overseas. Chairman Ahmed expressed gratitude for Hungary’s increased scholarship allocation, from an initial 80 to now 400 annually, reflecting deepening bilateral relations.
The ceremony also included testimonials from program alumni and advice from HEC officials, encouraging the new scholars to leverage this opportunity for comprehensive personal and academic development.
