Heavy Rains Cause Extensive Damage in Buner District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


Buner: A series of heavy rain incidents on September 27, 2024, has led to significant damage in Buner District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, affecting multiple residences and resulting in injuries and livestock losses. The downpour led to the destruction of infrastructure including homes and boundary walls, and even resulted in the death of livestock.



According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the specific damages reported include the collapse of boundary walls, washrooms, and a cattle shed, as well as damage to vehicles in the village of Bajkata. Notably, Saleem Khan from the village of Bajkata faced substantial property damage, including the destruction of boundary walls and washrooms, as well as damage to a Mazda van and a van. Additionally, in the village of Rega, Niaz Ali’s boundary wall collapsed, and in the village of Kowga, two rooms were destroyed with Said Ali Shah’s wife suffering injuries. Ihsan Ur Rehman and Israr also reported partial house damage and the loss of a cattle shed and two cows respectively.



The events underscore the vulnerability of the region to sudden natural disasters and highlight ongoing challenges in disaster preparedness and response in rural areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Local authorities are assessing the situation and initiating response measures to assist affected families and stabilize the affected structures.
