Heavy Rainfall in Jammu Claims One Life, Damages Homes and Roads

Jammu: A 60-year-old man was found deceased in the Tawi River and two residences along with a road section suffered damages due to intense rainfall hitting the Jammu region. Local authorities are addressing the incident amidst challenging weather conditions that have caused widespread disruption.

According to Kashmir Media Service, while the recent downpours have provided a respite from the preceding heatwave, they have also precipitated landslides, obstructing traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and inundating lower-lying areas. The adverse weather effects have intensified challenges for the local population and emergency services.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) conducted a recovery operation, locating the man’s body near Gujjar Nagar. His identity and the precise cause of death remain under investigation. Despite the structural damage in the Bhatindi area, no further casualties have been reported.
