Heavy Rainfall Causes Widespread Damage in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Karak: The recent heavy rainfall in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has resulted in significant damage to property and an injury, as reported by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in their latest daily situation update for the evening of July 26, 2024.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, on July 23, the intense rain led to structural damages across several localities in Karak. Notably, residences suffered from partial to complete destruction, including damaged rooms and boundary walls. Among the affected, Nasir Iqbal from Mitha Khel Houses sustained injuries. Others, like Muhammad Naveed and Noor Salaman of Kanda Karak, reported damage to their homes and property. The incidents recorded include damages to single rooms and extensive damage to boundary walls ranging from 20 to 50 feet in length in various areas such as Tappi Algadi, Eask Chuntra, and Mitha Wala.

The PDMA is coordinating response efforts and assessing further needs to support the affected residents and facilitate recovery in the region. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the community in managing and mitigating the impacts of severe weather events.
