Islamabad, May 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has informed that that a westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts of the country from Thursday, 19 May 2022 (night) and is likely to persist until Tuesday, 24 May 2022 due to which rain-dust-thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad Capital Territory, Punjab. Districts Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Mandibahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, T.T Singh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Districts Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Bannu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
Districts Astore, Ghizer, Gilgit, Diamir, Hunza and Skardu particularly during afternoon and evening / nights. Temperatures are likely to subside during the forecasted period in most parts of the country.
Possible Impacts
Relief is expected in the present heatwave conditions in most parts of the country.
Water stress on water (reservoirs), crops, vegetable and orchards may likely to continue.
Wind / dust-thunderstorms may cause damages to vulnerable structures in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the forecasted period.
