Head of Asia-Pacific Department at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung visits SDGs Secretariat at Parliament House 

Islamabad, November 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Convener Pakistan-German PFG and Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, with the status of Minister of State and Convener SDGs Secretariat met with the Head of the Asia and Pacific Department, Mr. Mirco Günter, and the Desk Officer for Pakistan, Mr. Benjamin Reichenbach and Dr. Niels Hegewisch, Country Director of FES Pakistan today. The two sides discussed matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the regional situation.

Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with Germany and would like to further strengthen through collaboration in diverse sectors. He suggested that both countries should focus on strengthening bilateral institutional collaboration; enhance frequency of exchange of delegations further increasing more high level contacts and exploring new avenues of cooperation.

He was of the view that regular interaction between Parliamentarians, business and other delegations would further cement ties between the two friendly countries. Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah acknowledged the generous German assistance for social sector development and during relief/rehabilitation in Pakistan.

Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam briefed about the working of SDGs Secretariat and mentioned that the German political foundations could play an important role in facilitating bilateral exchange and providing platforms for substantive discussions on many key political issues especially climate change. Head of the Asia and Pacific Department, Mr. Mirco Günter appreciated the role of Pakistan to facilitate the international community in evacuation of a large number of people from Afghanistan.
