Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, recently held a Zoom meeting with Amir Allahwala, CEO of Transsion Techno, and representatives from the Engineering Development Board to discuss the Mobile Phone Device Policy.
The meeting addressed several key issues, including tariff duties, mobile phone exports, and the markets for used cars and mobile phones. The conversation also touched on technological advancements within the industry.
Haroon Akhtar Khan pointed out that 38 mobile phone companies in Pakistan have generated 40,000 jobs, highlighting the industry’s potential to expand its global export footprint.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting the industrial sector, with a focus on incentivizing local businesses and boosting exports, in line with the Prime Minister’s directives.
Khan emphasized that technological upgrades are essential for Pakistan to remain competitive in the regional market, and attracting investment alongside increasing exports would be a significant achievement for the nation.
He assured that the government, along with the Ministry of Industries and Production, is actively supporting the industrial sector’s interests within the Tariff Policy Board.
