Tirupati, August 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):A woman constable committed suicide at Karthikeya Puram in Penumur mandal of Chittoor district on Sunday. According to police, constable Sukanya, 27, had been on duty at II Town police station in Tirumala before going on maternity leave. She had delivered a baby girl two months ago. Sukanya, wife of Prasad, had allegedly hanged herself from a tree near her home on Sunday morning after a domestic quarrel.

According to South Asian Wire, Sukanya’s family members have accused her husband and in-laws of torturing, physically assaulting and harassing her for dowry. Based on their complaint, police have lodged a case of abetment to suicide and dowry harassment against her husband and mother-in-law.
Police have shifted Sukanya’s body to government hospital for post-mortem.
