H.E. Shaza Fatima Khawaja Engages with Huawei to Advance Pakistan’s Cloud Infrastructure


Riyadh: H.E. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication of Pakistan, has engaged in discussions with Huawei to bolster the country’s digital infrastructure. This initiative aims to establish a dedicated Pakistan Cloud Region and develop Pakistan’s first GPU-based AI Cloud, in line with the government’s Cloud First Policy.



According to a statement by Press Information Department, the meeting between Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Barry Xu, Vice President of ME and CA Cloud at Huawei, took place on the third day of the LEAP conference. The talks centered on enhancing public sector operations and accelerating digital transformation in Pakistan.



Minister Khawaja emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to adopting modern technologies to foster a strong digital economy. She highlighted the collaboration with Huawei as a strategic move to empower startups and drive innovation that benefits the nation’s youth and economy.



Barry Xu expressed Huawei’s dedication to supporting Pakistan’s IT and AI sectors, acknowledging its potential as a regional IT hub. The discussions included strategies for enabling Pakistani startups to access Huawei’s advanced resources.



The parties agreed to continue their collaboration and devise strategies during the upcoming Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum in Islamabad. This partnership is seen as a crucial step in promoting innovation-led growth and strengthening Pakistan’s role in the global digital economy.
