Gwadar Set to Transform into Internationally Acclaimed Port City, Says Minister Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has declared that Gwadar is on track to become an internationally acclaimed, world-class port city, promising significant opportunities for its residents.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in an interview with Xinhua, Minister Iqbal emphasized Gwadar’s strategic importance in the region and highlighted China’s substantial contributions to its development under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework. He detailed several key initiatives funded by China, including the establishment of a state-of-the-art hospital to provide first-class health facilities, a technical training institute, and the provision of solar panels to assist low-income families with electricity needs.

Additionally, Minister Iqbal noted that China has awarded scholarships to Gwadar’s youth, enabling them to study at Chinese universities, further fostering educational ties between the two countries. These developments are part of broader efforts to enhance the economic and social infrastructure of Gwadar, facilitating its emergence as a major economic hub.
