Gwadar Hosts Climate Resilience Forum to Address Environmental Challenges and Community Impacts

Gwadar: A significant event titled “Climate Resilience Information” was convened in Gwadar, attracting a wide array of experts, government officials, and local residents to discuss strategies for combating the effects of climate change and preparing for its future impacts. The forum aimed to educate participants on the latest research and successful initiatives in climate resilience, encouraging proactive community engagement.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the program featured several key speakers, including Deputy Director GDA Abdul Rahim Baloch, Deputy Director Irrigation Mubarak Ahmad Baloch, and Chairman Union Councilor Sarbandar Naseem Noshrwani. Assistant Director Local Government Dost Muhammad Baloch served as the chief guest. The event was organized with the support of RCDC, a non-governmental organization dedicated to community development and environmental advocacy.

Speakers at the forum highlighted the severe repercussions of climate change, noting its particularly devastating effects on physical and mental health, economic stability, and especially on vulnerable populations such as women and children. They discussed the increased heat’s damaging impact on natural resources, agricultural productivity, and the alarming rates of urban and rural depopulation due to environmental degradation.

The forum also addressed issues such as water scarcity, deforestation, and sea erosion, with a particular focus on the recent flooding in Gwadar, which exemplified the urgent need for effective climate resilience measures. The discussions emphasized the critical need for community involvement and informed actions to safeguard the environment and ensure a sustainable future for the coming generations.
