Gwadar: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced the commencement of flights from Gwadar Airport, highlighting its potential to transform Gwadar into a strategic hub connecting Central and Eastern Asia with the Middle East and Gulf nations. The development marks a significant step in improving communication ties within Pakistan and across the region.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister emphasized the airport’s operationalization as a testament to the ongoing commitment to Pakistan’s development. He credited the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, as a crucial element in this progress.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Chinese leadership, noting that the Gwadar Airport, equipped with international facilities, exemplifies the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. He highlighted China’s consistent support in Pakistan’s development endeavors.
Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of Khawaja Asif, the Minister of Defence and Aviation, along with the Government of Balochistan, security personnel, and military leadership, for their dedication to the airport’s construction.
