Gwadar: In anticipation of heavy rains and potential flooding, Gwadar’s local government convened a critical meeting to coordinate emergency response strategies. Led by Deputy Commissioner Hamudur Rahman and chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tabish Ali Baloch, the session aimed to fortify the city against impending monsoon threats.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Government of Balochistan, the meeting brought together key officials from various departments, including the Police, Gwadar Development Authority, Gwadar Port Authority, and the Health Department, among others. The discussions focused on ensuring the readiness of emergency machinery, clearing drainage systems, and the strategic positioning of resources to handle flood risks, especially in low-lying residential areas prone to water accumulation.
Instructions were also issued for the B and R Department to promptly repair roads and infrastructure to facilitate unobstructed water flow and for health officials to prepare for potential post-rain epidemics. The collective efforts are directed towards minimizing damage and ensuring the safety and well-being of Gwadar’s residents during the monsoon season.
