Karachi, In a landmark move, Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has overseen the first-ever departmental promotions of Police Communication Officers in the Safe Cities Authority. This initiative marks a significant step in the professional development and welfare of the police force in Punjab.
According to Punjab Police, in a recent release, announced that a total of 76 officers have been promoted within the Safe Cities Authority. Specifically, 31 officers have been elevated to the role of Senior Communication Officers, while 45 have been named Police Technical Officers. This development is notable as it represents the first instance of departmental promotions in the history of the Safe Cities Authority.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar also presided over a rank pinning ceremony at the Central Police Office, where he personally awarded three-star badges to the newly promoted officers. Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Additional IG Punjab, MD Safe City Authority Ahsan Younas, Chief Operating Officer Captain Retired Mustansar Firoze, AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem, among others.
Dr. Anwar praised the promoted officers as the best human resources of the Safe City Authority. He announced that following their promotion, there would be a significant salary increase of 50,000 PKR per month for these officers. Dr. Anwar further outlined the expansion plans for the Safe Cities project, revealing that it will extend to 20 cities across the province with data centers in each city. He also highlighted that a clear career path has been established for Safe City officers, enabling promotions up to the position of Executive Director.
The event also featured a speech by MD Safe City Authority Ahsan Younas, who addressed the gathering on this historic occasion.
