Imphal: The residence of Manipur Minister Kashim Vashum was targeted in a grenade attack by unidentified assailants on Saturday night in Ukhrul district, resulting in damage to the property. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as the minister and his family were not present at the time of the incident.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the explosion affected the walls and other parts of Minister Vashum’s residence. The local police are currently investigating the attack, utilizing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify those responsible. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for this act of violence.
Minister Vashum, a member of the Naga People’s Front, which is an ally of the ruling BJP in Manipur, expressed relief that no one was hurt during the attack but condemned the violence against his property. The incident has heightened security concerns in the area, prompting law enforcement to intensify their efforts to ensure the safety of public officials.
