Green Tourism Company to Enhance Investment in Pakistan’s Tourism Sector

Islamabad: The Green Tourism Company, operating under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, has embarked on a series of initiatives aimed at boosting investment in Pakistan’s tourism industry.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the company has introduced significant measures including visa on arrival for citizens of 126 countries, visa-free entry for Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries, and expedited visa processing within 24 hours. These efforts are anticipated to draw approximately eighty million dollars in direct foreign investment and generate local investments amounting to 8.3 billion rupees.

The initial phase of infrastructure development has commenced at seventeen of the seventy-eight government-identified sites in Naltar, Hunza, and Skardu to enhance tourist facilities. Additionally, a central body for overseeing green tourism initiatives has been approved, which will also facilitate expanded air travel services.

To foster religious tourism, special protections are in place for tourists from various faiths, with a focus on Sikh and Buddhist visitors. Moreover, a luxury bus tour promoting regional culture has been launched between Islamabad and Peshawar.
