GREEN-TECH HUB LAUNCHED TO TRANSFORM COUNTRY’S ENERGY SECTOR, ACHIEVE SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

Islamabad: A state-of-the-art Green-Tech Hub (G-TH) was launched on Friday by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination in collaboration with national and global energy sector stakeholders, including universities. The initiative aims to transform Pakistan’s energy landscape and reduce the energy sector’s carbon footprint through the adoption of green technologies and renewable energy solutions.

According to Press Information Department, the launching ceremony was addressed by Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s climate aide, who emphasized the pivotal role of the Green-Tech Hub in positioning Pakistan as a regional leader in sustainable innovation. “Today marks a game-changing moment for Pakistan as we launch the Green-Tech Hub. This isn’t just a project—it’s a movement towards securing a sustainable future for our country and our people,” said Alam.

Alam highlighted the collaborative effort of academic institutions like the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and COMSATS, which are central to the Green-Tech Hub’s research and development activities. She pointed out that this initiative supports Pakistan’s commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement and aligns with the national vision for a just transition to a low-carbon economy.

Furthermore, Alam discussed the hub’s role in promoting innovation and attracting global investment, particularly at the upcoming UN-led global climate summit in Baku. “We will position Pakistan through the G-TH platform as a global destination for green investments, inviting the world to invest in Pakistan’s sustainable future,” she stated.

Alam called on all stakeholders—including businesses, policymakers, and development partners—to support the government’s initiative in creating an environment conducive to sustainable technologies. “The G-TH belongs to all of us, and together, we can make Pakistan a leader in green innovation,” she concluded.
