Grand Mufti Claims Article 370 Abrogation Aims to Subjugate Kashmiris with Non-Local Officials

Srinagar: The Grand Mufti of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, has controversially stated that the abrogation of Article 370 was designed to dominate Kashmiris by appointing Hindu officials to key positions rather than to promote peace or development.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a speech in Srinagar, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam articulated concerns over the imposition of non-local officers, such as Patwaris and Tehsildars, in administrative roles within the region, viewing this as an extension of control rather than integration.

The Grand Mufti also addressed other issues affecting the region, including the opening of liquor stores and the spread of drug addiction among the youth, which he described as part of a broader plot to undermine Kashmiri society and its values. He called on parents and community leaders to safeguard their children and community from these influences.

Additionally, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam urged local Imams and religious scholars to unite beyond sectarian lines and to focus on imparting the principles of the Quran and Sunnah, emphasizing the role of religious teachings in resisting what he termed as “the enemy’s conspiracies.”
