Governor Sindh Pledges Financial Aid and IT Training for Laborers’ Children

Karachi: In a significant move to support the labor community, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori announced a financial grant of one million rupees to the Pakistan Institute of Labor Education and Research and free IT training courses for 200 children of laborers. The announcements were made at the closing ceremony of a conference focused on wage issues in Pakistan’s garment sector.

According to Sindh Governor House, the conference drew participation from government officials, representatives from the textile and garment manufacturing sectors, international buyers, civil society organizations, and both domestic and international trade union representatives. Governor Tesori highlighted the conference’s role in addressing the rights and challenges faced by workers, including inflation and unemployment.

He emphasized the importance of providing workers with adequate training, safety equipment, and educational opportunities for their children. The Governor also noted ongoing initiatives at the Governor’s House aimed at empowering the youth and assisting families, such as modern IT courses enabling participants to earn between $300 to $600 per month and the distribution of ration bags to needy families.
