Hyderabad, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori has committed to advocating for the construction of a large hospital in Hyderabad, addressing the disparity between the city’s tax contributions and the availability of local facilities. This pledge was made during a ceremony distributing funds to the families affected by the recent Pretabad tragedy, which resulted in 18 fatalities.
According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori, who visited Hyderabad to meet with the families of the victims, expressed deep condolences and distributed financial aid to 60 families impacted by the tragedy. Highlighting the need for improved local infrastructure, he criticized the current lack of facilities relative to the tax revenue generated by the city. “Hyderabad city collects a lot of tax but there are no facilities in this regard,” he stated, promising to discuss the issue with both the Chief Minister and the Health Minister of Sindh.
During his address, Governor Tesori also outlined several initiatives launched from the Governor’s House aimed at supporting the underprivileged segments of the community. These initiatives include a breakfast program for needy children and a new project to replace stolen motorcycles in Hyderabad, similar to an existing program in Karachi. Moreover, he announced the distribution of 50,000 ration bags in Hyderabad to assist families in need.
Governor Tesori further addressed the ongoing safety concerns highlighted by the Pretabad incident, revealing plans to form a commission of inquiry to investigate the tragedy thoroughly and ensure such incidents are prevented in the future. He emphasized the need for stricter regulations on LPG cylinder shops to enhance safety standards.
The Governor also touched on the development of the IT sector in Hyderabad, noting that IT courses endorsed by Karachi University would soon be available in the city. He highlighted the success of similar programs in Karachi, where participants have achieved significant financial gains, and expressed optimism that Hyderabad’s youth would soon benefit similarly.
Governor Tesori concluded his visit by meeting with the families of the martyrs, reinforcing his commitment to supporting the affected communities and improving the city’s infrastructure and public safety measures.
