Karachi, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori has said that leprosy should be eradicated from Pakistan now, everyone should play their part. I have to give an account to him, in the same way all the officers have to give an account to Allah Almighty, I will try to do everything in my power for the betterment of the city and the province, and if not Even then, I will continue my efforts.
On the occasion of World Leprosy Day, we should pledge to get rid of this disease. These views were expressed by the Governor of Sindh while speaking at the event organized on the occasion of World Leprosy Day at Mangopir Leprosy Hospital. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman, former senior director of medical services Dr. Muhammad Ali, senior director Dr. Nadeem Asif, medical superintendent of the hospital Dr. Asif Saeed and other officers were also present on this occasion.
Sindh said that I am very sad to see the condition of the hospital. It seems that the hospital is an archaeological site. The environment should be better for the patients who come to the hospital for treatment. It is the responsibility of the government to provide health facilities. I will request the philanthropists to go ahead and help the institutions that provide public health facilities, he said that we have to change the condition of this hospital and I will visit the hospital again after a few days.

I pay tribute to the staff who are performing the duty of treating and caring for leprosy patients, he said that this disease is treatable and people should consult doctors only after the initial symptoms, the governor said.
Sindh said that this is the only hospital in Pakistan under the management of Baldia Uzma Karachi which treats leprosy patients. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman while speaking said that more than 90 leprosy patients reside in this hospital. are accepted and all the expenses of these patients are borne by the MC, he said that this disease is mostly found in cold regions and people are more likely to suffer from this disease due to severe cold.
Holding this event on the occasion of leprosy reminds us that we should spare no effort in serving the suffering humanity, and should not leave the leprosy patients alone, he said, adding that it is very sad. That after being afflicted with leprosy, the members of these families turn away from such people and at one-time leprosy people were left far away from the city and they died with their lives. Used to wash hands, Administrator Karachi said that this disease is not transmitted from one person to another, it is also necessary to make people aware. Governor Sindh visited various wards on this occasion and visited the patients admitted there.
