Governor of Balochistan Highlights Achievements of Pakistani Athletes, Calls for Enhanced Sports Opportunities

Quetta: Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandukhel recently highlighted the significant achievements of Pakistani athletes on the international stage and called for improved facilities and opportunities to nurture sporting talent in the country. Speaking at the All Balochistan Arshad Khan Master Weightlifting Championship at Beotams University, the Governor praised the accomplishments of squash legend Jahangir Khan and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities in sports to enhance national prestige.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Governor Mandukhel pointed out that Pakistan has made a notable mark in the global sports arena, evidenced by Jahangir Khan’s recognition as one of the best players of the millennium by the United Nations for his record 555 consecutive match wins. Additionally, Arshad Nadeem’s gold medal in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics set a new record, bringing honor to the nation. The Governor stressed that while Pakistani athletes are skilled and capable, they require more support in the form of opportunities and necessary facilities.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Adviser and Parliamentary Secretary Naseemur Rehman Malakhil, Members of the Provincial Assembly Mir Asghar Rand Barkat Ali Rand and Salma Kakar, Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqat, and DG Sports Dr. Yasir Bazai. Governor Mandukhel urged that efforts be made to stabilize and strengthen the sports sector, advocating for equal opportunities for all talented players across various sports disciplines to further their abilities and contribute to the country’s fame.
