Quetta: Governor Balochistan Jafar Khan Mandukhel has emphasized the importance of developing the blue economy and enhancing marine tourism as strategic priorities for Gwadar University, aiming to leverage Balochistan’s extensive coastline to boost regional economic prospects.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Governor Mandukhel held discussions with University of Gwadar Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, stressing the need for immediate research into the potential of the blue economy, modern maritime industry, and marine tourism.
He highlighted the underutilization of over seven hundred kilometers of Balochistan’s coastline, describing it as a missed economic opportunity. The Governor also commended the current efforts of the university management and encouraged them to expand educational programs and improve the university’s ranking. Additionally, he proposed organizing a significant seminar on blue economy and marine tourism to set political and economic priorities and announced plans to visit the public sector universities in Makran Division.
