Islamabad: The Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Pakistan and ACT International, has launched a digital pilot project focused on Life Skills-Based Education (LSBE) for Grade IV students in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). This initiative aims to incorporate digital tools into school curricula and enhance essential life skills among young learners.

According to Press Information Department, the launch event took place at Islamabad College for Boys, G-6/3, attended by government officials, UNFPA Pakistan representatives, education experts, and teachers. Federal Secretary Nadeem Mahbub emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating technology in education, aiming to prepare students for modern challenges by teaching critical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving skills.

The new Digital LSBE Learning Management System offers an interactive and age-appropriate curriculum for Grade IV, providing teachers with advanced digital resources. The pilot will be conducted over three months in twenty schools across ICT, including those under the Federal Directorate of Education and the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority. The program’s effectiveness will be evaluated to inform future policy and potential expansion to other grades and regions.

Dr. Gulnara Kadyrkulova, Deputy Representative of UNFPA Pakistan, highlighted the program’s role in equipping children with essential knowledge and skills for informed decision-making. The initiative underscores a collaborative effort between the government, UNFPA, and ACT International to enhance inclusive and future-ready education across Pakistan.
