Islamabad, September 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):The National Assembly was informed that the government is going to announce a massive subsidy on DAP fertilizer to provide relief to farmers and the agriculture sector.
Responding to a question during Question Hour in the House on Wednesday evening, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said that the government is taking all possible steps to boost the agriculture sector. Answering another question, he said the economy is growing after a long time and that is why imports are on the rise. To a question, Shaukat Tarin said that Saudi Arabia is considering extending an oil facility to Pakistan.
Replying to a question, Parliamentary Secretary for Commerce Aliya Hamza Malik said textile’s exports have witnessed a growth of 23 percent, engineering goods 30 percent, and carpets, footwear, and surgical goods 14 percent.
Responding to another question, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development and Reform Kanwal Shauzab said textile sector is working at its full capacity production by taking withdrawal of government’s withdrawal of duties and taxes on import of the raw cotton. She said almost half a million jobs have been created in the textile industry.
The National Assembly referred seven bills, including granting of voting rights and use of modern technology to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, to the joint sitting of the Parliament for consideration and passage.
These bills include “the Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “the Elections (Second Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “the International Court of Justice (Review and Re-consideration) Bill, 2021,”, “the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Bill, 2021”, “the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021” and “The Hyderabad Institute for Technical and Management Sciences Act, 2021”.
Five Ordinances were laid before the House. These include; “The Federal Government Properties Management Authority Ordinance, 2021, “the National Assembly the Elections (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2021”, “the National Assembly the Public Properties (Removal of encroachment) Ordinance, 2021”, “the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021” and “the Pakistan Food Security Flow and Information Ordinance, 2021”.
Besides, eleven bills were also introduced. These are; “[The Evacuee Trust Properties (Management and Disposal) (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Bill, 2021”, “The Export-Import Bank of Pakistan Bill, 2021”, “The Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Pakistan Tobacco Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “Iqbal Academy Pakistan Bill, 2021|”, “The North-West Frontier Constabulary (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Pakistan Coast Guards (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Pakistan Rangers (Amendment) Bill, 2021”, “The Frontier Corps (Amendment) Bill, 2021”and “The Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill, 2021”.
Prime Minister Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan moved the motion that this House expresses its deep gratitude to the President of Pakistan for his address to both Houses assembled together on 13th of the last month. Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari seconded the motion.
The National Assembly passed “The Higher Education Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021” and “The Higher Education Commission (Second Amendment) Bill, 2021”. These bills were moved by Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood.
Responding to a calling attention notice, moved by Aliya Kamran and others, Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem said that all posts of members of the Federal Service Tribunal will be filled soon. The House will now meet again on Friday at 11 in the Thursday morning.
