Government Targets Illegal Constructions in Islamabad


Islamabad: The government has announced a decisive operation against illegal constructions in Islamabad, including unauthorized housing, following a high-level meeting led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.



The meeting, held on Sunday, concluded with directives to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against illegal housing societies. The Interior Minister emphasized the importance of using satellite mapping through the Land Information and Management System (LIMS) to halt unauthorized developments.



Interior Minister Naqvi underscored the need to prioritize world-class facilities for the residents of Islamabad, urging officials to ensure the safety of life and property. He called on Senior Police Officers (SPs) and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) to actively engage in their duties and improve the image of the police and administration in the capital.



Naqvi encouraged the introduction of new initiatives for public service, with assurances of full support for implementation. He stressed the importance of carrying out this operation with commitment and a sense of national responsibility to achieve effective results.



In addition to tackling illegal constructions, the minister directed efforts toward controlling the prices of essential commodities and enhancing cleanliness in the city, particularly during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.



The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, IG Islamabad Police, Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), SPs, and ACs. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and the Federal Secretary for Interior were also present.
