Government Takes Steps to Protect Media Workers’ Rights: Tarar

Islamabad: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, announced in the National Assembly that the government is actively working to protect the rights of media workers. This statement came in response to a walkout staged by reporters from the Parliament’s Press Gallery.

Minister Tarar expressed concern over the recent dismissals of media workers by certain media houses and assured that the issue would be addressed in an upcoming meeting with media owners. He promised that a permanent solution would be devised to resolve the matter.

In a significant move, Tarar also pledged that journalists who had been terminated by the media platform Nukta would be re-employed within the next forty-eight hours.

Addressing another recent incident, Tarar mentioned that a detailed report on the police raid at the National Press Club in Islamabad is expected to be finalized by tomorrow.

In addition to these developments, five bills were introduced in the House. The proposed legislation includes amendments related to motor vehicle taxation, local government in Islamabad, standard time references, public-private partnerships, and income tax. These bills have been forwarded to the relevant standing committees for further deliberation.
