Islamabad, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Maritime Affairs, retired Vice Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed Rao, announced the government’s efforts to secure Pakistan’s accession to the Hong Kong Convention. Speaking at the International Maritime Organization National Seminar, he expressed confidence in obtaining formal cabinet approval soon.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting conveyed that this accession is expected to attract a significant number of ships to Pakistan’s ship-breaking yards, potentially boosting the country’s ship-breaking industry. SAPM Rao’s statement highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing maritime industry growth in Pakistan.
