Islamabad: The Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, reiterated the government’s dedication to creating a unified and efficient tax framework at a recent meeting of the National Tax Council. The meeting, held in Islamabad, sought collaboration among federal and provincial stakeholders to address tax reforms and harmonization.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting was convened in the context of the newly signed National Fiscal Pact between the Federation and the Provinces. Discussions highlighted the importance of maximizing tax potential from under-taxed sectors such as real estate, property, and agricultural income.
The agenda focused on collaboration between federal and provincial authorities to enhance tax systems, improve compliance, and increase revenue collection. Key topics included data sharing and tax digitization, GST harmonization, provincial tax reforms, and broadening the tax base.
The Council underscored the necessity of cohesive policy implementation, capacity building, and robust stakeholder engagement to achieve sustainable reform goals.
