Islamabad: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering speedy and affordable justice as a top priority during his response in the National Assembly’s Question Hour today. The government has launched several initiatives, including task forces and committees, to review and reform legal systems to better serve the public.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Tarar outlined the government’s strategy for legal reform, which includes the formation of three task forces focused on civil, criminal, and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws. Additionally, a Special Committee has been established to create a legal aid mechanism aimed at assisting the poor and vulnerable populations.
The Law Minister also mentioned that under the Prime Minister’s directive, a Legal Reform Committee has been set up under his own chairmanship to review various laws for ensuring justice is both inexpensive and expedited. These efforts are part of a broader collaboration with the judiciary to minimize delays and enhance the efficiency of justice delivery.
In a related discussion, responding to a Calling Attention notice, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressed the inclusion of Allama Iqbal Open University students in the Prime Minister’s laptop scheme, noting that a final decision is pending.
