Government Prioritizes Climate Resilience to Mitigate Disaster Risks, Says Romina Khurshid Alam


Islamabad: In an effort to strengthen the nation’s defense against increasing climate-related disasters, Romina Khurshid Alam, Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, outlined new governmental initiatives focused on boosting resilience across key socio-economic sectors. During a meeting held in Islamabad, she emphasized the critical importance of enhancing the disaster preparedness of the agriculture, water, energy, health, and education sectors.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Alam chaired the meeting on Friday where she highlighted the government’s commitment to integrating climate resilience measures into national policy frameworks. She stated that these efforts are crucial for safeguarding Pakistan’s socio-economic stability against the backdrop of more frequent and severe climate challenges.



Alam also announced that her ministry intends to collaborate closely with various development sector partners to embed resilience strategies into their operations. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure that all facets of national development are fortified against the impacts of potential disasters.
