Islamabad: In a webinar titled “Women Shaping the Tech Landscape of Pakistan,” Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering women, emphasizing their crucial role in the nation’s development. The event, organized by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication in celebration of World Youth Skills Day, highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance women’s participation in the tech industry.
According to Press Information Department, Minister Khawaja outlined the government’s initiatives aimed at equipping women with digital skills and improving their employment prospects in the technology sector. She stressed the importance of creating an inclusive and equitable tech environment where women have equal opportunities for advancement.
The minister also addressed key barriers hindering female participation in the tech field, such as the need for safe transportation and more inclusive workplaces. She suggested that improving digital skills could enable women to work remotely, providing them with flexible employment opportunities. Additionally, Khawaja emphasized the importance of skills development and capacity building, particularly for the youth, to prepare them for future employment in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
The webinar also served as a platform to discuss the broader impact of technology on economic development, with a focus on building a skilled workforce capable of advancing Pakistan’s position in the global economy.
