Government Pledges Support for Senior Citizens with New Initiatives

Islamabad: The government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the legal and institutional support systems for senior citizens, according to Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

Speaking at an event in Islamabad, Minister Tarar outlined several initiatives under the ICT Senior Citizens Act, 2021. These initiatives include the creation of the Senior Citizens Fund, aimed at providing financial assistance, and the development of Darul Shafqat, a dedicated old-age home in the capital.

Minister Tarar emphasized the government’s dedication to implementing these tangible measures to improve the well-being of the elderly population.

The ICT Senior Citizens Act, 2021, serves as the foundation for these efforts, aiming to create a more supportive environment for senior citizens in the region.

The establishment of the Senior Citizens Fund is intended to deliver financial relief, while the Darul Shafqat facility will offer a specialized living environment for older residents.
