Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, has emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing the socio-economic status of mountain communities. She made this statement during a news conference held in Islamabad.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the event, a significant research study titled “The new inventory of 13,032 glaciers in Pakistan: the ‘glaciers and students’ project” was unveiled. This study is a collaborative effort involving experts from EvK2CNR, universities, and government institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan, with support from Italian universities.
Romina Khurshid Alam acknowledged the vital role of international collaborators in executing comprehensive research to develop a new inventory of glaciers in Pakistan. This study has identified an impressive total of 13,032 glaciers across the country.
