Karachi, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Minister for Power, has affirmed the government’s dedication to bolstering the textile industry, a key sector in Pakistan’s economy. Addressing members of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association in Islamabad, Leghari outlined plans for substantial governmental support aimed at revitalizing the industry and boosting its export potential.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to implementing a comprehensive wheeling policy designed to enhance export capabilities significantly. He underscored the intention to offer competitive tariffs to the textile sector, aligning with regional standards to unleash its full export potential, with an ambitious target of increasing exports by up to two billion dollars.
Leghari also stressed the urgency of operational improvements within power distribution companies to provide immediate relief to the textile sector. This move is part of a broader strategy to ensure a stable and efficient power supply, critical for the industry’s growth and competitiveness on the global stage.
