Islamabad: Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain announced on Friday a series of government initiatives designed to support the business community and enhance economic growth through increased exports. The statement was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by its President Atif Ikram Sheikh.
According to Press Information Department, Minister Hussain highlighted the establishment of special economic zones as a key strategy for attracting investment and boosting economic development. The minister emphasized the importance of aligning energy prices with those of regional competitors to bolster Pakistan’s export capabilities. This adjustment is seen as critical for reducing dependency on the International Monetary Fund and for achieving a more sustainable economic model centered around industrialization.
President FPCCI Atif Ikram Sheikh underscored the potential of the business community to meet an ambitious export target of 60 billion dollars, contingent upon governmental support in lowering electricity tariffs. This measure, he argued, would provide the necessary relief to energize Pakistan’s industrial sector and enhance its competitiveness on the international stage.
