Government Hosts SME Awareness Session to Boost Women’s Empowerment

Peshawar: In a significant move to bolster financial independence and empowerment for women, the Ministry of Human Rights in partnership with the State Bank of Pakistan organized an awareness session specifically for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This initiative, part of the Prime Minister’s Women Empowerment Package 2024, aimed to address the crucial aspects of financial inclusion, challenges in SME operations, and the creation of gender-sensitive work environments.

According to Ministry of Human Rights, the session gathered various stakeholders to deliberate on enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Pakistan. The discussions focused on strategizing the overcoming of SME challenges, providing access to subsidized loan schemes tailored for women entrepreneurs, and advocating for robust policies that ensure gender equality and inclusive economic growth. The event underscored the government’s dedication to advancing the role of women in the business sector and promoting their financial autonomy, particularly in marginalized communities.

This initiative reflects a broader commitment by the government to not only support women’s participation in the economy but also to create a more equitable business environment. The emphasis on subsidized loans and gender-sensitive policies highlights a strategic approach to dismantle the barriers women often face in entrepreneurship.
