Islamabad, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and violent extremism. Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Annual Security Assessment Report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies in Islamabad, the Minister emphasized Pakistan’s consistent efforts in addressing these critical issues.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi highlighted Pakistan’s call to the interim Afghan government to address counterterrorism concerns, particularly regarding the space and safe havens provided to militant groups like the TTP operating from Afghanistan. Pakistan is expecting a positive response from the Afghan authorities in this matter.
The Minister also touched upon the issue of sophisticated weapons access in Afghanistan for militant groups and the involvement of Afghan nationals in anti-state activities in Pakistan. Discussing the significance of the Security Assessment Report, he noted that data-driven reports are vital for informed decision-making in today’s dynamic world. These reports not only offer a comprehensive understanding of the security landscape but also act as a roadmap for policymakers.
Responding to inquiries about JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman’s trip to Afghanistan, Murtaza Solangi clarified that the visit was unofficial. On the topic of negotiations with terrorists, the Minister stated unequivocally that the State will not engage in talks with them until they lay down their arms and recognize the Constitution of Pakistan.
