ISLAMABAD, The government has unveiled a detailed strategy for the repatriation of illegal foreign individuals, including Afghans, commencing from tomorrow.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Interior has initiated the establishment of 49 holding area points across the nation. These points are designed to facilitate a dignified border crossing for these individuals post a thorough screening process. A breakdown reveals that 36 such centers are located across all districts of Punjab, three each in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, two in Sindh, and one each in the federal territories of Islamabad and Gilgit. For those aiming to traverse the Pak-Afghan border, specific crossing points have been identified in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. To streamline the repatriation process, NADRA has introduced a specialized App. Furthermore, an exclusive control room has been set up at the Interior Ministry to oversee the entire operation. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also provided an emergency contact, number 1700, to address potential challenges. As the window for voluntary repatriation comes to a close today, the government has opened new passport offices at Qilla Abdullah and Jamrud. Additionally, a streamlined passport documentation process has been introduced for future journeys across the Pak-Afghan border.
