Islamabad, The government has announced the formation of a committee to investigate the events of May 9, 2023, as part of its efforts to thoroughly examine and address the incidents.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the cabinet division released a notification detailing the committee’s composition and objectives. The caretaker Minister for Law and Justice will serve as the convener, with other members including the Ministers for Interior, Information, and Human Rights.
The committee’s mandate is to investigate the May 9 incidents comprehensively. Its terms of reference include examining the events leading up to that day to identify the masterminds, planners, facilitators, and executors. The committee will analyze the causes of these events and determine responsibility.
Additionally, the committee is tasked with suggesting preventive measures to ensure such breaches of national security do not recur. It will also recommend ways to strengthen the existing legal framework to deter similar incidents in the future.
The committee is expected to submit its report to the Cabinet within fourteen days, providing insights and recommendations based on its findings.
