Islamabad, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, affirmed that the government is committed to providing equal opportunities to all registered political parties in the country.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a media interaction in Islamabad, Minister Solangi emphasized the government’s stance on impartiality towards political entities. He stated that leaders of political parties are entitled to their right of criticism, suggesting that any grievances should be directed to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for resolution.
Responding to inquiries regarding the appointment of District Returning Officers, the Information Minister clarified that the ECP holds the constitutional authority to oversee and conduct elections, as stipulated under article 218(3) of the constitution. This statement reinforces the ECP’s role as the central body responsible for election management.
Minister Solangi also touched upon the state of press freedom in Pakistan. He asserted that the media in Pakistan operates freely and that the constitutional rights to freedom of expression, enshrined in articles 19 and 19-A, are upheld for all citizens.
This announcement comes amidst preparations for upcoming elections, underscoring the government’s commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process.
