Government Developing National Policy to End Violence Against Women: Mushaal

Islamabad, Special Assistant on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, announced that the government is formulating a national policy to eradicate violence against women.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, speaking at an event, Mullick stated that the policy’s zero draft is in the finalization stages, with support from UN Women. She outlined the existing initiatives, including helplines and women protection centers at federal, provincial, and district levels, which provide medical, legal, and psychological support to victims of violence.

Mullick emphasized the empowerment of women as a catalyst for societal change and highlighted significant legislative measures taken to protect and empower women. These include the Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Act, Enforcement of Women’s Property Rights Act, Anti Rape Investigation and Trial Act, and Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act.
