Islamabad, June 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):The government has decided not to allow import of exotic mammals to Pakistan. The decision was taken at a meeting of International Trade in Endangered Species Authority board held in Islamabad with Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman in the chair. In a series of tweets about the decisions taken in the meeting, the Minister said NOC will not be issued for import of animals exotic to our country’s habitat including big wild cats.
She said if we cannot provide a specified habitat to animals which they are born into, we don’t need to bring them into our zoos and home jails to see them die in tragic captivity. Sherry Rehman said like humans, animals do have the right to live in their own particular habitat and environment.
