Islamabad, June 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Asian Development Bank’s Director General for Central and West Asia department, Eugenue Zhukov also called on Minister for Power Khurram Dastagir Khan in Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government is committed to bring reforms in energy sector. He said the government envisions to replace energy production capacity from imported fuel to indigenous resources, besides increasing generation from solar and wind and exploiting domestic coal.
He said this will not only improve the country’s balance of payments but also bring down the cost of electricity in the medium term. Eugenue Zhukov informed the minister that ADB would carry out pre-feasibility study for conversion of carbon intensive power plants to less carbon intensive ones. He said the Bank will invest around one billion dollars in transmission in the next two years.
