Government Commits to Stable Gas Supply for Fertilizer Production Ahead of Rabi Season

Islamabad: In a significant move to bolster agricultural productivity, the Pakistani government has pledged to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to all fertilizer plants during the upcoming Rabi sowing season. This commitment aims to facilitate ample production of urea, crucial for wheat cultivation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the decision was made during a meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting focused on adopting various measures to guarantee that fertilizers are available in sufficient quantities and at reasonable prices for the crucial wheat sowing period.

The continuous gas supply strategy is designed to minimize the need for imports and conserve foreign exchange, addressing some of the economic pressures facing the nation. Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Dar called on provincial governments to enhance market surveillance to ensure that fertilizer prices remain stable and prevent profiteering.

This initiative is part of a broader governmental effort to support the agricultural sector, which is vital for the country’s economy and food security.
