Islamabad: The government is intensifying its efforts to reform the energy sector, with a focus on privatizing leading power distribution companies. Supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the initiative aims to address longstanding challenges in the sector. A steering committee has been established to oversee the privatization process, which initially targets the power distribution companies in Islamabad, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, significant progress has been made in the privatization efforts, with the SIFC playing a central role in expediting the process.
