Srinagar, July 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in connection with the ongoing Martyrs’ Week, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to prominent youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his associates who were martyred by Indian troops in Kookernag area of Islamabad on July 8, 2016.
The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Dar while paying rich tributes to Shaheed Burhan Wani on the eve of his 5th martyrdom anniversary said that the unparalleled sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and the freedom movement would be taken to its logical conclusion. He said Kashmir is a dispute as the United Nations has constituted several committees on different occasions and passed 18 resolutions to find an acceptable, durable and lasting solution to the dispute.
Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) said, “Burhan Wani would be remembered as an icon of the resistance movement in Kashmir” adding that he was an institution in himself who gave a new impetus to the liberation struggle. Lauding the supreme sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs, the DFP spokesman said, “We as a nation owe a debt of gratitude to hundreds and thousands of martyrs who sacrificed their youthful lives for our freedom”.
A spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League in a statement said that the party was observing the week with the theme of upholding the great sacrifices of the martyrs at any cost to further the cause of freedom and right of self-determination. The JKPFL will hold programmes in every village, town and city to pay rich tributes to the martyrs. Fateha Khwani will be held at the graves of martyrs.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Front spokesman, Shafiq-ur-Rehman while highlighting Burhan Wani’s supreme sacrifices and peerless contribution towards the ongoing freedom struggle said the way he imbibed new spirit in the freedom movement is a proud legacy that would continue to inspire Kashmir’s coming generations. The spokesman also praised the Wani family’s contribution to the liberation struggle, saying that Burhan’s elder brother had also laid down his life for the cause while fighting against the occupational forces.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) said that Kashmir was the core dispute between Pakistan and India and is the main hurdle to peace between the two countries. JKPL Chairman Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Vice Chairman Syed Aijaz Rehmani in a joint statement said Kashmir is a political and humanitarian issue and it can be resolved through a meaningful dialogue among Pakistan, India and the people of Kashmir in line with the relevant UN resolutions.
The JKPL General Secretary Nasirul Islam and Chief Organizer Hamza while addressing public meetings in South Kashmir said that the Kashmiri people were rendering unprecedented sacrifices for a sacred cause. They maintained that the United Nations Security Council has the moral duty to put pressure on India to settle the long-pending Kashmir dispute according to the will of the Kashmiri people.
Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement (JKEM) in a statement said that Wani’s martyrdom gave a new direction to the freedom movement. It advised party workers to further the cause of his mission which showed his mature and innovative thinking. “He was not only a brave commander but a great motivator and genius. His capacity and capability to lead without an iota of doubt took the resistance movement to new heights,” the party said. His influence was such that even detractors turned defenders.
Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami said that martyr Burhan Wani gave the freedom movement a new direction through social media. TWI spokesman Shahid Ali in a statement said that the people of Kashmir continued their uprising for months over martyrdom of Burhan Wani to pay a great tribute to a legendary youth leader. He denounced killing of Kashmiri youth in fake encounters and arrest of Hurriyat leader and activists by Indian army and police.
The Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi Chairman, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement said that Burhan Wani and his associates would continue to serve as a source of inspiration for the Kashmiri youth. He urged the world human rights organizations to take cognizance of the Indian brutalities in IIOJK. He also appealed to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to impress upon India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Chairman, Ghulam Nabi Waseem, and Vice Chairman, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, in a joint statement said that martyr Wani and other Kashmiri martyrs stood like a rock against India for the freedom of their motherland. Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Altaf Ahmed Butt in a statement in Islamabad appealed the Kashmiri people to observe complete shutdown in IIOJK tomorrow. He said, “Burhan Wani will always remain alive in our hearts. He is a role model for our youth.”
