Glowing tributes paid to Afzal Guru, other Kashmiri martyrs

Srinagar, February 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders have paid glowing tributes to the noted son of Kashmiri soil, Muhammad Afzal Guru, on his 9th martyrdom anniversary, today, saying that the martyrs are the real heroes of Kashmiris.

India had hanged Muhammad Afzal Guru in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on this day in 2013 and sent prominent liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, to the gallows in the same jail on February 11, 1984. The bodies of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt were buried in the premises of the jail.

Illegally detained APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail highlighting the sacrifices of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt said, “The entire Kashmiri nation is proud of the great sons of the soil who preferred to kiss the gallows rather than compromising their ideals.”

Nayeem Khan who is languishing in Tihar Jail for the past five years said rather than dispensing justice the Indian judiciary and judges have been working on the whims and fantasy of the Indian rulers. “Over the past 70 years Kashmiris have been facing the wrath of prejudice and political vengeance at the hands of occupation authorities,” he said, adding the shameful execution of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt was a big blot on the face of India’s falling justice system.

Nayeem Khan reiterated the Kashmiris’ pledge to carry forward the mission of their martyrs despite all odds. APHC General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced the partisan approach adopted by the Indian judiciary and the denial of a fair trial to Afzal Guru, terming it as a grave violation of law and justice.

He thanked the brave people of IIOJK for observing complete shutdown, today, despite the use of brute force against the business community, government employees, transporters and the common masses by the authorities to pressurize them not to follow the shutdown call given by the incarcerated APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF.

APHC leaders, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Khawaja Firdous, in their joint statement issued in Srinagar paying homage to Mohammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Butt said that the Kashmiri people would take the mission of their martyrs to its logical conclusion, at all costs.

They said that during the last over seven decades, the Kashmiri people had made unparalleled sacrifices to get freedom from the Indian illegal occupation. They said the Kashmir dispute is a reality and it should be resolved only in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

APHC leader, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui, in his statement said that Afzal Guru was a true son of soil who sacrificed his precious life for the sacred cause of freedom. “Such great people are true assets of nations who inspire generations with their determination and steadfastness.

APHC leader, Abdul Ahad Parra, in a statement in Srinagar said that India had hanged Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt to instill fear among the Kashmiris to force them to give up their demand for freedom. However, he said, time has proved that hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives to carry forward the mission of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt. He said that the great sacrifices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will one day come to fruition.

APHC leaders, Khadim Hussain and Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi, in a joint statement issued in Srinagar, said that Muhammad Afzal Guru, a young man with a passion for freedom, preferred to kiss the gallows but did not bow down to the Indian tyranny. They said the decision of the Indian Supreme Court to sentence Afzal Guru to death is a big question mark on this high institution of justice. They said that the sacrifices of Afzal Guru and hundreds of thousands of other Kashmiri martyrs will definitely pay off and the Kashmiris will get rid of Indian occupation soon.

APHC leader, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, while paying homage to Mohammad Afzal Guru said that according to the Supreme Court of India he was hanged to satisfy the collective conscience of the Indian people. He reiterated the Kashmiris’ commitment that the sacrifices of the martyrs will not be allowed to go to the waste.

APHC leader, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement said that the bodies of Afzal Guru and Shaheed and Maqbool Butt should be handed over to their families. He said India must realize the fact that it will not succeed to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement by executions, bullets, imprisonment and oppression.

APHC leader, Bashir Ahmad Butt, in his statement termed the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru in Tihar Jail as a judicial murder. He said India is highly mistaken if it thinks that by detaining and killing the entire Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership, it will get hold of the occupied territory.

APHC leader, Javed Ahmed Mir, in his statement in Srinagar also paid homage to Muhammad Afzal Guru on his martyrdom anniversary. He called for early resolution of the Kashmir dispute for ensuring durable peace in South Asia.

APHC leaders Jameel Ahmad Mir and Dr Mus’ab while addressing a programme organized in the memory of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt said that Kashmiri people would never forget the sacrifices of their leaders.

APHC leader, Muhammad Hanif Kalis, in a statement issued in Jammu said that the Indian government had constituted the so-called delimitation commission to bring about a demographic change in IIOJK. He said, after August 05, 2019, the occupation authorities have erased everything from politics, culture, civilization and identity. He said that the Kashmir freedom movement could not be suppressed by such tactics.

APHC-AJK leaders, Abdul Majeed Malik, Qazi Imran and Khalid Shabbir, in a joint statement issued in Islamabad said Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt, are the heroes of ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. “We salute these great heroes today and pledge that we will continue the mission of these martyrs till the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian occupation. The day is not far when the people of Jammu and Kashmir will celebrate their independence,” they added.
