Islamabad, Today marks the global observance of the International Day of Zero Waste, an initiative recognized and celebrated worldwide, including in Pakistan, to highlight the urgent need for enhanced waste management and the promotion of sustainable consumption and production patterns.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the United Nations General Assembly declared 30th March as the International Day of Zero Waste on 14th December 2022. This day aims to draw attention to the critical impact of waste pollution on human health, economic prosperity, and the environment. It underscores the significant role that effective waste management plays in addressing the triple planetary crisis: climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution.
The observance of this day serves as a call to action for individuals, communities, and governments around the globe to adopt practices that contribute to waste reduction and to foster a more sustainable relationship with our planet.
