Islamabad: A three-day Girls Sports Carnival kicked off at the Pakistan Sports Board, organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, along with the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and the Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad. The event brings together 4,000 female athletes from across the country to compete in a range of sports, including track and field, basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and tennis.

According to Press Information Department, Federal Minister for Education Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui inaugurated the event by tossing the volleyball to commence a match. The carnival aims to showcase the skills and talent of young female athletes from regions including Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and all provinces of Pakistan.

Speaking at the event, Federal Secretary for Education, Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani, stressed the importance of the initiative, stating, “Through sports, we are providing girls with opportunities to engage in physical activities.” Dr. Siddiqui praised the participants, highlighting their perseverance and determination, and expressed hope that such events will empower young girls and inspire them to pursue their passions through sports.

Government officials attended the opening ceremony and lauded the efforts behind making the carnival a success, emphasizing the role of sports in encouraging physical activity and confidence among women.
